Weekend in Hunter Valley

Spent the last weekend in Kearsley, Hunter Valley, which is a suburb of Cessnock, which is a small town northeast of Sydney. Hunter Valley itself is a wine region with about 300 vineyards (told so by Ian, Robert didn't prove it though :-)) We have been invited over by Karen, a friend of Ians and stayed at her place. Spent Saturday night in the local pub with halfnaked waiters, (booked for a hens night out) whom definitly couldn't afford to wear just shorts and knee-high socks.

Sunday morning we left for a vineyards tour with a few tastings, which I really enjoyed as it was fun watching the guys being pros. Unfortunatly it was cold and rainy so we enjoyed most getting back into the car, whenever we left a place as none of us girls had a jumper or even a jacket as Saturday was burning hot. But again, I am the rainmaker and I had to proove it. Few of you might notice that this is beer instead of wine, but we had to stop somewhere for lunch. And it happened to be the Bluetongue brewery.

I spent most of the day yesterday in Sydneys Wildlifeworld which is an indoor kind of zoo with 9 different habitats and all species of animals you would find around Australia. Finally seen Koalas (and they are huge :-)) and the famous funnel web, the most venomous spider in the world and the most venomous snake as well, which would be the inland taipan. Glad they all have been behind glas and there was no way of getting bitten or anything like that.

Having a job interview for being a volonteer at the Sydney Film Festival on Thursday, so I need to get some descent clothes which is the target for today!!!
